Mamluk Archery Foundation Course (3 sessions)

A structured 3-session course in traditional Mamluk archery for ages 10+ to adults.

You’ll cover historical stance, proper form, range commands, and practical shooting techniques including side, front, and back shots.

Successful completion of shooting requirements make you eligible to continue shooting at independent sessions. Please enquire about details of these requirements.

Independent Archery Session (2 hours)

For archers who have been signed off as safe and competent, these independent sessions offer a relaxed environment to continue training under the supervision of a range safety officer.

Bring your own bow or use club equipment (depending on availability), refine your technique, and enjoy regular range time as part of the Mamluk Mounted Archers community.

Mamluk Archery: Full Beginner Course

Start your Mamluk archery journey with this complete 6-week course designed for absolute beginners. Over six 2-hour sessions, you’ll be introduced to the historical techniques, refined form, and spiritual mindset of the Mamluk warrior tradition.

This is the official entry into the Mamluk Academy System, preparing you to undertake your first Tiraz assessments. Training includes historical theory, range etiquette, and practical shooting based on techniques from classical manuals

You'll learn:

• Thumb draw technique with traditional bows
• Key stances and anchor positions (Ishaq al-Raqqi, Abu Hashim, Taahir al-Balkhi)
• Mamluk, Turkish, and Seljuk nocking styles
• Khatra and Iflat release methods
• Historical context of the Mamluks and their archery system
